OptMed’s proprietary methylidene malonate chemistry was originally developed as a biocompatible polymer designed for drug delivery use. This chemistry permits the creation of both monomers and polymers with various and customizable attributes. Its safe degradation products, such as glycolic acid and ethanol, enable the development of new biomedical product applications to meet the clinical needs of our customers and patients.
Our methylidene malonate chemistry is distinctive compared to currently marketed tissue adhesives for the topical approximation of skin, which are all based on the rigid cyanoacrylate chemistry.
